Yvonne Wildi, MA Psychotherapeutic Counselling, MBACP (Accredited)
I believe feeling safe is one of the most important things a client can experience with their therapist. Feeling safe enough to begin to share the thoughts and feelings that have brought them to therapy; safe from judgement and inauthenticity and all within a quiet and confidential environment. This safety is what contributes most to the healing nature of the therapeutic relationship, whatever the approach may be. You may be mourning the loss of a loved one, be struggling within a relationship, an addiction or paralysed by depression, anxiety or major life changes. Whatever is causing you distress can lie heavily upon your life and yes, making the decision to see someone like me is sometimes not an easy one, but any uncomfortable feelings usually rapidly disappear within the first few minutes.
I am a professionally qualified person-centred therapist with almost 15 years experience. For many people, 1-6 sessions are enough to make a real difference but sometimes, longer term counselling is more appropriate.
Some of the issues I have worked with include:
Addictions (alcohol and drugs)
Life crises such as divorce, financial difficulties
I welcome all enquiries and am happy to answer any questions you may have.
I work on a one to one basis for either short or longer term therapy. Day or evening sessions are available.
Training, qualifications & experience
MA in Psychotherapeutic Counselling - University of Brighton
Post Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling - University of Brighton
Diploma in Equine Assisted Personal Development
BSc (Hons) Psychology
I currently work in private practice but spent several years working as a counsellor in secondary schools and as Practice Counsellor within the NHS. I also worked for two years as an addictions counsellor and was an operator on the crisis helpline for Refuge, the domestic violence charity. My counselling rooms are quiet and comfortable with easy parking nearby.
Before re-training as a counsellor I worked in the hotel and exhibition industries and then took some time out to raise my children. Due to unforseeen life events I decided I needed an extra challenge so undertook a psychology degree and then specialised in the counselling field, culminating in an MA at Brighton University.
