About me

I am an integrative counsellor, EMDR Psychotherapist and Equine Assisted Psychotherapist with a private practice in Evesham. My aim as an integrative counsellor is to support you to achieve your goals in a way that best suits you. I offer a non-judgemental space and draw on a range of holistic therapies including: Person centred, Gestalt, Cognitive, Transactional Analysis, Psychosynthesis, Psychodynamic, Somatic trauma therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR, trauma therapy) and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning.

My work as a counsellor has involved supporting people with a wide range of issues including Anxiety, Generalised anxiety Disorder, relationship issues, depression, abuse, trauma, stress, life threatening illness, HIV, relationship issues, low self confidence, low self esteem, bereavement, child related issues, family difficulties, childhood sexual abuse, anger management, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I have experience of working with 5 organisations including the charitable sector and have completed further training in the area of trauma including rape and sexual abuse.

EMDR is an effective evidence based trauma therapy that can help in the resolution of trauma, providing containment and management of pace to avoid re-traumatisation. Thus, placing trauma where it belongs...in the past. Sessions last for 90 mins and can be once weekly or an intensive course of 3/4 sessions weekly.

Intensive EMDR courses are available where appropriate following an initial assessment which can be conducted face to face, on line or on the telephone. Intensive EMDR courses involve a package of support for 1-3 wks and include 4 sessions of EMDR per week. There is good evidence to suggest that intensive EMDR can result in excellent results much more quickly and these results have also been found to be just as long lasting as with weekly or bi weekly EMDR. The intensive courses will appeal to those who seek a more rapid result enabling them to get on with busy lives unfettered by the debilitating effects of trauma.   The course includes access to 17 acres of land and the opportunity to interact with a wide range of animals including horses. There are no concessionary rates for this option.

I also offer Equine Assisted Psychotherapy in conjunction with my Equine specialist. Set in beautiful countryside with plenty of space to be in touch with nature we provide a team approach and bespoke therapy for individuals, groups and young people.  Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is very helpful for a wide range of issues. We offer individual and group sessions for a wide range of issues including anxiety/depression, trauma including PTSD,  confidence building and communication skills. We also offer Continuing Professional Development workshops for those working in the mental health field. For further information about Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning please contact me by e mail or mobile.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
