Supervision details

How I work in supervision

I recognise the importance of a consistent and supportive supervisory relationship and its potential to contribute to effective, safe practice, successful outcomes and professional development.   I believe that the work we do requires a demanding, continuous investment of ourselves and that too deserves to be explored, understood and reflected upon.  I  work in the knowledge that we are relational beings: the connections we have and the feedback we get can help us find the meaning of our experience.   This alone can be surprisingly helpful to a fellow professional and, in its turn, enrich the work we do. What matters to me is that we both take your work seriously, we have a language to explore what is happening and that we both understand the value of the exploration.  I believe the success of the supervision will pivot on our relationship and a shared conceptual framework.  I Incorporate Hawkins and Shohet Process model of supervision into my approach as a supervisor.   Theory and Practice I work with the belief that the therapeutic relationship creates therapeutic change. My main theoretical orientation is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Over the years I have completed professional development to enhance my therapeutic skills which include training in Transactional Analysis, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and a specialism of working with Trauma.  Experience   I have over 10 years’ experience of working as a Psychotherapist and Counsellor in the voluntary, educational, and corporate and private sectors.  I supervise therapists who work with individuals aged 16 and over and  couples. I have experience of working with clients both long and short term and I am an associate Counsellor for many Employment Assistance Providers (EAP). I am a Director of a successful thriving private practice in Leicester called Rutland House Counselling and Psychotherapy Ltd. I am experienced in managing a large team of therapists, completing assessments and making clinical recommendations. I also manage my own caseload of clients in private practice.   Qualifications

Next Steps I would be happy to discuss your supervision requirements and answer any questions you may have. I offer an initial meeting so that we can both assess whether we are the right ‘fit’ for each other. There is no charge for the initial meeting, subsequent supervision sessions are charged at my hourly rate of £50.00.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
