Supervision details

I am an experienced and fully trained supervisor and can support you and help you to develop and grow your skills as well as being there to encourage and hold your work.  I am there for all my supervisees to provide experience, knowledge and support to you to whatever degree you need it. I have worked with a very wide range of clients for over 15 years, individually as well as having experience in couples work. My experience in running a busy counselling agency for young people also gives me a unique insight into agency work as well as the sometimes complex challenges presented by young people and also our colleagues!  Please feel free to call and discuss your needs, as then you can get a sense of whether you might like to meet in person. It's important for you to find the right supervisor for you, and many of my supervisees tell me that our initial chat over the phone was helpful. However if you prefer to email first that's also fine. I have undertaken additional training in Clinical Supervision and am a qualified experienced accredited Integrative Counsellor and also a Counselling and Psychotherapy Supervisor. I have a Certificate in CBT so am also happy to offer specialist supervision for your CBT clients. In addition I have trained in Solution-focused brief therapy, Stress management and Relaxation skills training and have over 10 years of experience in my Watford private practice. I hold a Certificate in Counselling Supervision and I also draw on experience offering informal supervision in previous leadership and management roles (to coaches and counsellors). I very much enjoy working collaboratively with counsellors to help support and enhance their work. I think that the supervisor and counsellor relationship is integral to the quality and enjoyment of supervision and I aim to provide a warm, nurturing environment where challenge and support are equally balanced in order to create energising and supportive Supervision.   My charge is £55 per hour. Sometimes Supervisees come for 1.5 hours on a monthly basis (£82.50), others choose an hour fortnightly. It's completely up to each individual counsellor. I look forward to hearing from you. There are many definitions of supervision. My favourite is ‘Supervision is a working alliance between two professionals where supervisees offer an account of their work, reflect on it, receive feedback, and receive guidance if appropriate. The object of this alliance is to enable the worker to gain in ethical competency, confidence and creativity so as to give the best possible service to clients’ (McNulty, 2003) My aim is also to trust and encourage my supervisees to learn how to resolve problems themselves along the way. I am also very aware of the need we all have to feel supported in what can often be very challenging work, and of course a need to recharge our batteries!

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
