Supervision details

I have been in private practice as a counsellor for 16 years and have been offering supervision for six of those years.   I offer an essentially person-centred model of supervision and support therapists in all aspects relating to their work.   I endeavour to create a rich experience in supervision consisting of a space which is vibrant with curiosity and where both parties are fully present.  I believe that this can facilitate the development of both parties which in turn ensures that those with whom we work (clients) receive the best possible service.     I also offer concessionary rates to counselling students and again feel privileged to be part of your development as a counsellor. Again the support that I offer is wide ranging and, if needed, I can support you with some academic elements of your training.  Following completion of training I often support newly qualified therapists  support with, for example personal statements on the various advertising websites. Finally it is important to convey to students that I am not prescriptive and endeavour to support students to become the therapists that they are.  I may share my thoughts if asked for but I passionately believe that there is neither a right or wrong way to do therapy.  When I was training I had a wonderful tutor who suggested that therapy is 1% what we do and 99% how we are.  I hold dearly to that  ideal as it conveys that just as we appreciate that our clients are unique human beings with unique experiences we as therapists are also unique with our own unique way of practicing.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
