About me

Counselling sessions are offered in Sea Mills & Whitchurch* in Bristol.

Zoom, phone and some home visits are available*.

As a Person Centred Therapist I am non directive. Each person has their own motivation for positive change and if allowed to explore that motivation in a safe, non judgmental environment, then positive change can occur.

I trust my clients know themselves and their experiences better than I do. Our relationship is founded on unconditional positive regard, empathy and genuineness. Clients use their time in their own way and at their own pace to examine those areas causing them concern. My role is assisting clients in finding their own answers and solutions that are unique to them and their experience, to realize their own potentiality.

I offer a trauma informed, person centred approach for those clients experiencing distress, anxiety or depression. Some are working through life crises, coming to terms with loss, have suffered abuse / emotional abuse, or are going through separation and divorce, difficulties with relationship or family issues. I work with individuals and some children and young people. I am also able to offer assistance with issues of trauma, low self esteem and low self confidence, anger management, grief and loss, feeling sad, spirituality, obsessive compulsive disorders, anxiety, panic and seasonal affective disorder. It's about enabling everyone to fulfil their potential.

My Initial Online Consultation is free so people feel welcome and able to make a choice. I charge £50 an hour.  I also offer some discounted sessions, contact me for more details

Unable to make an appointment in person? Attend a confidential session on Zoom giving you the flexibility and ease of not having to leave your home. Face to face person-centred counselling is also available to help you make the changes you want. All initial consultations are currently online and face to face appointments available thereafter. Some home visits are available*.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

"When I first sought help from Jane I was on anti depressants and suffered from a very low self esteem. I no longer suffer from these negative emotions and my life has turned around. I have regained my old happy self and my self respect.
This rediscovered self respect has given me the courage to leave my old job which made me unhappy and I have started working for a new company and thoroughly enjoy my new employment.
I have rediscovered my zest for life and no longer take anti depressants thanks to the help of Jane."
