About me

Would you like to understand what is happening to you? Would you like to gain a better understanding of who you are and the relationships you have?
I provide a quiet, peaceful and confidential space in which we can explore the issues which are concerning you.

I will not judge you.
It could be that you are having difficulties with relationships with other people. I specialise in supporting people with their relationships. Sometimes they can seem very complex and you can be at a loss in how to move forward.
You may have suffered a loss that you can't adjust to. Or, you may be unhappy for no apparent reason. We can work on these things together.

Low- self esteem, depression, relationship issues, bullying, addictions, bereavement, anger management, anxiety, abuse - these are the most frequent types of issues I encounter in my work.

Listening is a fundamental part of counselling and I will actively listen, giving feedback from time to time, guiding you to explore the problem you bring, allowing you to come to a new understanding of what is happening to you and why. There will be no rush, you can go at your own pace.

Counselling offers the opportunity to explore your past and present experiences and how they may be impacting on how your life is now.

I won't tell you what to do, but I will help you to make decisions or discover what is underneath what is happening to you for yourself.

Why not take this opportunity to talk through what is on your mind in a safe and confidential environment with me, your counsellor?
I value your privacy – all calls and emails are dealt with by me alone and are strictly confidential.
I offer a FREE email back up service if it is required.
So give me a call today so we can make a start on giving you a better future.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Couples Counselling/Relationship Issues
If a relationship starts to break down, it can really help to come to see me.
I will be happy to offer my skills to all couples, including same sex partners, to help you both through this difficult time in your relationship.
Whilst in therapy, you will get the chance to speak of your feelings for each other and your feelings about your relationship.
By coming to see me, you will be taking very important steps that can help to bring about reconciliation between you.
If you come to feel that that is not possible or not what you want, then counselling can help you achieve an amicable split. This can be particularly valuable when there are children and property involved.
The sooner you start the more chance you have of reaching the successful outcome you are hoping for.
