Personal experience of counselling by Rachel
7th April 2010
I have experienced a few counsellors over the years, and when I began counselling with my most recent counsellor I knew I had found someone that really suited my needs. I think it is important to really feel comfortable with a counsellor and to keep looking if it doesn't feel right, not everyone will suit us.
I felt so immediately at ease this time, and this made it easy for me to be fully open from the start, not hiding any bits of me. I always feel welcome and listened to and my experience of our counselling relationship is full of warmth, understanding and depth. It is a down to earth space, completely free from pretence where I can explore every single aspect of me without judgement.
Every week that I attend sessions I come away feeling calmer and very often inspired and excited about my own potential as a human being. Counselling is a space for me to breathe, to sit quietly, to cry and to let go of my tensions and anxieties however big or small, as well to smile and laugh and appreciate the uniqueness of my personality, and of life itself.
