Workshop / CPD: cancer counselling
5 Kew Road
Why you should consider attending a cancer counselling workshop?
Supporting people with life-changing and life-shortening illnesses is rarely part of a counselling or therapy training curriculum. Yet according to Cancer Research UK the incidence of cancer is increasing, with the likelihood of any one of us being diagnosed in our lifetime standing at one in two.
What does that mean for you?
The likelihood of any of us developing cancer has increased and the likelihood of meeting a client that has been affected by cancer (including family, friends) is also high.
The emotional impact of cancer on people affected by the illness (including relatives and friends) is both wide-ranging and specific.
Offering meaningful therapeutic / counselling support requires awareness of practical and emotional needs, which come with cancer and many other life-changing illnesses.
As cancer is traumatic, practitioner self-care is particularly important.
What you will learn from this workshop?
