In this workshop we will learn how to construct and further develop genograms in counselling. Participants will be provided with the tools to: construct a clear and inclusive assessment tool with client work; provide an aide memoir of client material; enable the generation of multiple hypotheses around casework and provide the therapist and client with a “road map” of their journey.
We will explore how we can extend and adapt the genogram for multiple contexts e.g. a “workogram” a “feelingsogram”, a “thinkingogram” or a “friendsogram” and consider how the genogram dovetails into theories and practices arising from a social construction perspective e.g. the Social GRAACESS and the Coordinated Management of meaning. We will look at how these multiple contexts work to impact and influence clients thinking, feeling and behaviour.
Participants will learn how to use genograms with individuals, couples and families and will explore their own genogram. We will also look at how genograms can be used in supervision, e.g. where is the supervisor in the genograms? Where is the agency you work for?
This is an interactive workshop building on people’s current experience and knowledge, providing 6 hours of CPD.
