Working with families with a parenting focus
Who is the course for?
This course will suit anyone who already has a basic understanding and experience of the counselling process and also has experience of working with CYP.
This will help to improve the understanding, knowledge and experience of those wishing to work with family groups. This one day workshop is designed to be part of the full seven day families programme offered over the year. It is also suitable as a ‘stand alone’ day, with a focus helping practitioners to engage with every member in a family group, the particular emphasis being on working with parenting issues, adapting to suit the needs of the family.
Aims of course
Following completion of this day you will have an understanding of:
Different parenting styles and consideration of the origins of the differences.
The impact of the family life-cycle on parenting styles.
How systemic imbalance in the family can cause confusion for the child.
An understanding of adapting parenting style as the family grows together, parenting young people.
