Working with blended families
Who is the course for?
This course will suit anyone who already has a basic understanding and experience of the counselling process and also has experience of working with CYP.
This will help to improve the understanding, knowledge and experience of those wishing to work with family groups. This one day workshop is designed to be part of the full seven day families programme offered over the year. It is also suitable as a ‘stand alone’ day, with a focus on helping practitioners to engage with every member in a family group, the particular emphasis being on the issues affecting blended families.
Aims of course
Following completion of this day you will have an understanding of:
The diverse range of issues having an impact on blended families.
Balancing parenting decisions between biological parents and step parents.
The changing family dynamic when new emotional relationships are formed or existing emotional relationships change.
Combining different parenting values and beliefs to form a common parenting goal.
