Timeline Therapy workshop
Anne Burton, certified trainer & Master Practitioner of NLP, facilitates this one day Timeline Therapy workshop which carries 6 CPD Points.
"Time Line Therapy, while working with events from the past to help clients in the present and future, differs from Time Line as used in Emotional Therapy in that it is a thought process; nothing is written down. We work with one negative emotion at a time and we are looking for the first event/experience of that emotion rather than all significant events over the client’s lifetime.”
The theory is that we build up a chain of experiences (or gestalt) around an emotion and that by taking positive learnings from that first event can, in effect, dissolve the power of the whole chain by bringing the learning back into the present day.
We revisit the first event in a way that keep the client safe and sufficiently dissociated that they can see the event but not re-experience it (the idea being that they are already too associated with that emotion so do not need to get more in touch with it).
Time Line Therapy has 3 main uses:
- Letting go of negative emotion from the past
- Letting go of a limiting decision that holds the client back in life
- Putting the achievement of a goal in the future in a way that makes it more appealing and achievable for the clients.
