TA 101 – The official introduction to transactional analysis
TA theory provides ways of looking at ourselves and our relationships, as a way of understanding the ways we communicate and the repeating patterns we get into. It can be applied in counselling and psychotherapy, in organisations and in education.
TA is a social psychology with a depth of theory on:
- Personality – how people are structured psychologically and the impact this has on their thinking, feeling and behaviour.
- Communication – how we interact (transact) with one another, and within organisations.
- Human development – how, through interactions with individuals and our environment, our personality develops through childhood and later.
The theoretical concepts of TA have been developed by practitioners in four fields of application: psychotherapy, counselling, education and organisations.
This two day course provides an introduction to the main theoretical concepts of TA.
We will explore the concepts of ego states, transactions, psychological games, life scripts and others, using practical examples and exercises from everyday life. Participants will be invited to discuss how they might use TA theory to think about themselves and their interactions with others.
This course will be of interest to people wanting to learn about TA, or simply about what makes people tick. The course is also a prerequisite for people wanting to continue training in TA.
At the end of the course, participants will be awarded an introduction to transactional analysis 'TA 101' attendance certificate. This is an internationally recognised qualification, with a syllabus agreed to by the international TA associations.
Duration: Two days, Saturday (9:30am - 5:00pm) and Sunday (9.30am - 5.00pm).
Participants must attend the whole course to be awarded the TA101 certificate.
