Suparna certificate/diploma in counselling and psychotherapy supervision
The suparna certificate / diploma in counselling & psychotherapy supervision offers a comprehensive supervision training course for experienced counsellors and psychotherapists to develop and attain the knowledge and skills that are necessary to practice as effective, ethical and competent supervisors. The course is underpinned by the supervision competence framework and BACP's supervision training curriculum.
The course is delivered by two experienced tutors and comprises 14 taught sessions over seven weekends between January and June, with a final assessment taking place in the September of the same year.
We have previously run the course at a therapy centre in central Harrogate, within 3 minutes’ walk of the bus and train station and with plenty of pay and display parking facilities nearby. The location for the course in 2018 will depend on student numbers and so this is to be confirmed.
The course director is Caroline Jesper who is a BACP accredited counsellor with over 18 years’ counselling practice experience. Caroline has practised as a counselling supervisor for over 12 years, has 22 years of teaching experience and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. For over 13 years she taught at York St John University where she was the course director for PG Cert in counsellor supervision. She has been working part-time for the BACP since 2014, developing competences and curricula within Professional Standards. She has an MA in psychological therapies and a PG Certificate in counselling supervision. Caroline co-authored the book ‘Getting the Most from Supervision: a guide for counsellors and psychotherapists’ (2013, Palgrave), and is currently involved in a collaborative research project exploring the impact of counselling supervision on counsellor well-being and efficacy.
