Nature and wilderness therapy experiential workshop
This event is designed to give professionals and trainees an opportunity to experience for themselves the healing power of nature. This event will explore and teach participants how:
1. To understand how being out in nature can enhance the therapeutic relationship, enabling clients to access deep within themselves feelings and emotions which may not be accessed within the confines of the normal therapeutic alliance.
2. To experience how working in nature is part directive and part "lets just see what unfolds", to learn how nature mirrors our feelings. By looking deep into nature, we look deep into ourselves.
3. To realise how working outdoors with those clients that feel much more at ease out in the open. How and why they feel safe in nature, the only place they have felt safe, how it can help calm their mind and unlock their potential to flourish as a human being rather than a "human doing".
I have been running outdoor therapy groups for women who have been abused for the last couple of years. I welcome the opportunity to help move this wonderful therapy more into the mainstream by inviting other professionals to experience the healing power of nature first hand.
