Mindfulness workshops - (and neuroscience of the brain)
I hold Mindfulness Workshops every Saturday morning between 9-11 am in Twickenham (time depends on group needs). This includes seminars in the neuroscience of the brain in order to understand how mindfulness affects the brain, nervous system and physiology of the body. I usually begin with a group of clients/counsellors who know each other and come as a self-contained group, or I respond to individual requests and wait to receive at least three members. You may have heard of mindfulness in the news as it is being used in psychology to improve the performance of the Ladies Olympic Cycling team, Liverpool FC & England Football Team. It is also used to reduce stress, anxiety and depression in multinationals and small businesses.
Mindfulness is a solution to life on the run. It is a way of being present with ourselves - paying attention to what is happening in the here-and-now. Creating the conditions in body and mind for a state of openness and being present. Mindfulness helps develop an attitude of tolerance and self-acceptance. Replacing rigid patterns of anxious thinking and behaving with a more mindful approach to adapting to situations as they are. It helps us let go of our daily anxieties, stress and emotional pain. We can still live normal lives, but also provide space and time to reflect - letting go of distressing memories, trauma and preventing us from projecting our fears into the future.
The mindfulness group is open to all-comers. You may have any level of experience from beginner, to intermediate or advanced. You do not have to have any academic qualifications. I am used to making these workshops accessible to ordinary clients from any background, but challenging enough for those within higher education.
I have a great deal of experience in facilitating counselling groups and trainee-counsellors at Saint Mary's University and West Thames College. I have a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy & Counselling and I am an accredited member of the UKCP. I also have my own private practice and am willing to convene groups and interested parties. I will provide course materials and a certificate at the end of the course.

Cost of Mindfulness Sessions/Course
£15 - 20 per member depending on numbers (3-6)
The workshops/course could be delivered session-by-session or developed into an 6-12 week course (from May - July, Aug - Sept; Sept - Dec)
