Mindfulness is a simple yet also profound state of mind and body which allows you to become more focused and self-aware, able to better manage your life with choice and purpose. Mindfulness-based practices are also a valuable way of working with clients experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, or pain and illness, so they are useful therapeutic tools.
In this course you will discover new ways to become more focused and self-aware, and better able to manage your emotional life and health with choice and purpose.
This training will teach new ways of meditation, improved breathing techniques, gentle mindful movement, and most importantly show and encourage how to start and develop a daily Mindfulness practice to manage stress, anxiety, tension, pain or illness with increasing awareness of our choices and their impact on our lives.
Participants will be encouraged to incorporate mindfulness practice into their daily lives away from training sessions, with regular meditation home practice to learn experientially as well as intellectually outside of the course programme. There will also be opportunity for email contact between participants and the facilitator outside training sessions to answer questions or address any concerns.
CDs of meditations will be given out to practice at home, as well as handouts describing core elements of the course.
Mindfulness practices are becoming ever increasingly accepted by medical and other professions as an important way to manage anxiety, stress, depression, pain or illness. The National Health Service already has NICE guidelines for using Mindfulness in working with patients with relapsing depression. Other guidelines are anticipated to follow.
This course is facilitated by an experienced psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer of 18 years' standing. Aileen Ross is a Senior Accredited therapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and works therapeutically within its Ethical Framework.
