I am delivering an eight week mindfulness-based stress reduction course on a Friday afternoon 12:30-2:30pm in West Bridgford for up to eight participants.

The eight-week course incorporates meditation, (formal practice) simple movement exercises and breathing. As we train our minds through formal practice it enables us to notice unhelpful habitual thoughts and feelings, we are then able to manage them better. Mindfulness helps us to become more aware of our thoughts and feelings, therefore more aware of our managing skills.

The eight week stress reduction course is an amalgamation of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s programme he has been running for the last 30 years and a cognitive element now currently used in the NHS for conditions such as chronic pain, anxiety and depression. NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) recommends mindfulness for people with recurrent depression (research Mark Williams et al).

Mindfulness is also taken into other settings such as the workplace (research Michael Chaskalson) and the benefits are increasingly recognised by large organisations such as eBay, Google, Yahoo and Apple.

The eight-week course is once a week for two hours duration. You will receive a workbook, guided meditations for you to practice at home and a certificate upon completion of 16 CPD hours.
