Medically unexplained symptoms in clients or people presenting with health issues for which no medical reason can be found, often have embodied somatic, emotional health issues. How do we address this in therapy?

Attendees will understand: How life events can be embodied, how our mind affects our body, out of awareness, and what we can do to resolve these issues. Illnesses such as, but not excluding musculoskeletal problems, conversion disorder, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia can be explained in this way.

Looking to the work of Berne, Steiner and later work by Erskine, (Script Cure: Behavioural, Intrapsychic and Physiological) we identify how the body remembers (Rothschild) and is affected.

The workshop will be suitable for: Counsellors, psychotherapists, other therapeutic practitioners, social workers, probation officers and those working with people who are experiencing embodied trauma or illness.
