This qualification comprises of two mandatory units:

Unit 1 - Introduction to counselling provides a basic introduction to counselling and the use of counselling skills. The aim of this unit is to provide learners with a basic knowledge of the counselling profession and an understanding of and ability to use basic counselling skills in a practical setting.

Unit 2 - First steps in counselling theory provides a basic introduction to the roots of counselling theory. The aim of this unit is to show how theory underpins some of the skills identified and practised in Unit 1. It also provides a basic understanding of the three main areas of counselling theory, and how learners can begin to relate to counselling practice.

The course will be led by Debra Green MBACP. A fully qualified and experienced counsellor and trainer who has taught levels 2, 3 and diploma level 5. She also runs workshops on mindfulness, and works in private practice in Fareham aswell as working as a schools counsellor.
