Level 2 award in counselling concepts
If you are thinking of becoming a professional counsellor, this course is the first step and will help you decide whether you wish to undertake the subsequent two courses you would need to complete. It would also be a beneficial and rewarding course for anyone who works or volunteers in professions where listening skills are invaluable, such as teachers, social workers or health care.
What is involved in the course?
The course will provide a basic understanding of
- What counselling is
- Different counselling theories
- The environment in which counselling takes place
- Ethical issues relating to counselling
- Personal qualities relevant to counsellors and helping role professionals
- Personal development and self-understanding
- Counselling skills including listening and communication skills
The 10-week programme will run on Wednesdays from 6.30pm until 9.30pm.
You will also need to allow time for reading and assignments.
Assessments
You will be assessed using various means including written assignments, a weekly reflective journal, and observed practice.
Cost
£320 for the ten weeks, including registration fees. This can be paid in full or by means of a £120 deposit and a further 2 monthly payments of £100 by standing order.
Dates
Course commences Wednesday 25th April 2018, 6.30pm until 9.30pm.
Entry requirements
Minimum Age of 19.
All candidates will need to attend a personal interview.
Progression
On successful completion of this course, trainees can progress onto the level 3 certificate in counselling skills.
