Gender and sexuality diversities in the therapy room
Gender and sexuality diversities in the therapy room by Louise Futcher
Louise is a queer counsellor psychotherapist in private practice in east London, specialising in gender, sexual and relationship diversities such as LGBTQI+, non-monogamies, and kink/BDSM.
This workshop will provide an overview of some of the many different identities within LGBTQI+ including some of the politics and terminology, and will facilitate the participants to explore their own ideas around their own gender and sexuality, as well as identifying what they unconsciously bring into the room. It will outline how mainstream ideas around gender and sexuality are constantly reinforced in our culture which, along with a history of oppression and marginalisation, others LGBTQI+ people and results in some of the issues they may present with. We shall explore some of those issues, along with ways to support LGBTI+ clients.
