Domestic violence and couples
Who is the course for?
Counsellors and anyone who has a basic understanding of the counselling process and is looking to understand how best to help a couple when domestic abuse and violence is an issue. This one-day workshop is designed to be part of the full seven day couples programme offered over the year. It is also suitable as a ‘stand alone’ day.
Aims of course
Following completion of this day you will be able to:
Explore historical and current domestic violence and abuse and has it impacted on the interactions of the couple.
Question the policies and understanding of organisations in relation to domestic violence.
Understand the unique ethical considerations when working with domestic violence in couples work.
Consider safety and responsibilities, plans, confidentiality and its limits.
About the host

Ian has been in practice for 12 years accumulating 8,000 hours of face to face experience. He is a Relate-licensed practitioner and a qualified teacher now passing on his knowledge through his training programmes. Ian currently works with individuals, couples, families and children & young people.
