A supervisor training programme aimed at qualified and experienced counsellors/psychotherapists who wish to develop a professional, ethical framework of supervision. (NB – the course was previously BACP endorsed, but they have now discontinued this scheme).

The course will be person-centred in orientation and delivery, but will encourage participants to develop an individual supervision style which has a solid base of values and beliefs, taking into account ethical responsibilities.

Aims and learning outcomes

During the course, participants will:

  • Examine a variety of theoretical models/philosophies of supervision.
  • Develop a good understanding of the ethical roles and responsibilities of a supervisor.
  • Explore a variety of themes relevant to professional practice and their relevance to supervision.
  • Explore values and beliefs in relation to supervision and supervising.
  • Develop an individual framework for their supervision practice.
  • Develop their practice through co, and peer supervision.

Entry requirements

Qualification in counselling and either:

  • Eligibility for BACP accreditation (in terms of training and practice hours).

    or

  • Other relevant training and/or practice experience.

Application

  • Completion of application form and payment of booking fee.
  • Informal interview with course facilitator(s) – phone or face to face.

Facilitators: Sue Mansworth and Sarah Grant-Jones The certificate in supervision programme has two co-facilitators to maximise the learning and development opportunities on the course. Numbers are strictly limited to ensure a facilitator to participant ratio of no more than one to eight.
