  • Talking about it helps; you can’t make it worse – the worst has already happened.
  • Understand our own response; how we grieve, how children and young people grieve and how we can respond to the event/disclosure.
  • Recognise changes in a young person’s behaviour.
  • Understand the role of individuals and communities in supporting bereaved young people and what resources we can access.

This half day workshop aims to increase awareness and promote understanding of the grieving process in children and young people.

We will consider some of the myths related to loss and bereavement, as well as explore the varying levels of understanding children and young people hold about death and dying at different stages in their development.

We will discuss some of the many forms of expression of grief in young people, and explore ways of helping them manage their behaviour and express their emotions
