Who is the course for?
This is suitable for counsellors or for any professional who has a basic understanding of the counselling process and is looking to extend knowledge and skills in this area. This one-day workshop is designed to be part of the full seven day couples programme offered over the year. It is also suitable as a ‘stand alone’ day.
Aims of course
Following completion of this day you will be able to:
Use “immediately” as an effective technique to help couples to access the emotions in the room.
Have a better understanding of how to develop the ability to use the immediate situation in hand to invite the couple to look at what is going on between them in the relationship.
Learn how to therapeutically bond by staying in the present tense and how to use this powerful skill with warmth and empathy.
Explore emotional discharge techniques to help couples cope.

Ian has been in practice for 12 years accumulating 8,000 hours of face to face experience. He is a Relate-licensed practitioner and a qualified teacher now passing on his knowledge through his training programmes. Ian currently works with individuals, couples, families and children & young people.
