Attunement and relational needs by Steve Richards
Summary of the training
There is general consensus that what happens to us (or doesn’t) in our early lives has a profound effect on our character and ability to live satisfying and healthy lives. We also know that therapy works - but how it works remains more controversial. In this workshop we will explore the idea that whatever theoretical approach we take, real and lasting change is more likely when some part of the client's developmental needs are met. If we are aware that this might be taking place we can then enhance the therapeutic effect.
Who is it for?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and trainees.
Outcomes of training
To increase the participants’ awareness of the impact of developmental deficits and distortions and how the behaviour of the therapist both verbal and nonverbal can increase the possibility and speed of therapeutic change.
