8 week mindfulness based stress reduction course
This eight week mindfulness based stress reduction course is a chance for you to begin to learn how to integrate mindfulness into your everyday life.
Mindfulness is increasingly being seen as a valuable and credible tool for managing symptoms such as stress, anxiety, depression and chronic pain. Mindfulness has been described as "Paying attention, to the present moment, in a particular way and without judgement." (Jon Kabat Zinn)
By practising mindfulness on a regular basis we can learn to recognise the difference between being on auto-pilot and living with mindful awareness. When we do this our lives can begin to look very different; we may begin to notice things that we were previously unaware of, enabling us to choose different patterns of behaviour and increase our psychological awareness. Mindfulness can lead to increased self-esteem, improved relationships and better quality of life. There is a growing amount of evidence which suggests that regular mindfulness practice can actually change our brain activity, enabling us to better regulate our emotions, be more creative, less reactive to stress and less susceptible to depression.
This course, taught by an experienced and qualified mindfulness teacher, will take you through all of the main practices associated with mindfulness as well as look at some of the psychological processes linked with stress. You will be supported and encouraged in a non-judgemental environment to experience mindfulness practice and to explore how it can work for you.
This course is available to both counselling professionals and the general public, it is intended as personal development and does not provide you with a qualification in teaching mindfulness to clients, however an eight week course is an essential criteria if you are interested in taking this further.
