Further Details:Working with Substance Misuse - A One Day Workshop
In the treatment of addictions and their psychological understanding, cognitive behavioral and motivational approaches have been at the forefront of good practice . This one day experiential workshop will provide participants with an understanding of how these approaches can be used with clients presenting with substance mis-use issues.
This workshop is for Counsellors, Key Workers and Social Workers
Participants will gain a working knowledge of :
• The physical and psychological effects of substance misuse
• Commonly held attitudes and stereotypes
• Core defences & strategies employed by substance misusers
• Treatment interventions that are proven to be effective
Facilitated by: Ray Jenkins - Dip. Couns, MBA
Ray is the Development Director for a national social care charity specializing in substance misuse and criminal justice interventions. Ray is a former member of the UK Anti-Drugs Co-ordination Unit (UKADCU) and has advised on the Governments 10 year drug strategy (Tackling Drugs to Build a better Britain)
Sonia Yeandle - Adv. Dip. Int. Couns., Cert Groupwork, MBACP
Sonia is Managing Director of Consulting Circles and runs a busy private counselling practice in Brighton & Hove. Sonia has 17 years experience in social care, counselling & groupwork, working predominantly with addiction & sexual abuse issues.
