About me

I am a Qualified Psychotherapist based in Devon, UKCP Registered, with over 25 years’ experience working with adults, children & young People in private practice and the NHS.

I support patients across Exeter & Totnes and Plymouth, working with local authorities, CAMHS teams, solicitors and the Education sector.

I offer one to one psychotherapy, EMDR and DDP, parental support/consultations and clinical supervision for allied professionals.

Many years ago I have trained as an adult body-orientated psychotherapist. I have since broadened to working with families and children and completed additional training's in DDP, EMDR, and working psycho dynamically with young people.

I combine analytic and playful aspects of working. I am known for my warmth, directness and respectful, down to earth style.

About you

Whether you are an adult, child, parent or carer, my balanced approach remains knowledge based and compassionate. I aim to offer the support you need to get better. I deliver simple and effective guidelines to individuals and families. I aim to help you develop the tools you need to succeed.

How I can help

DDP - Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy

DDP is an effective therapy for deepening the emotional connection in your relationships. This approach draws on the attachment based work of therapist Dan Hughes emphasising P.A.C.E attitudes of Playfulness; Acceptance; Curiosity and Empathy.

EMDR Trauma Therapy

EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing- a treatment specifically developed to reduce anxiety and fear related to developmental trauma and PTSD. It is proven to be very effective in processing trauma lodged in our minds, by reducing the emotional intensity of responses to daily triggers connected to specific traumatic memories either developmental/emotional or more specific and acute. It helps rebuild confidence by neurologically ‘re-installing’ positive beliefs. My focus with this treatment is creating a safe environment to support you in developing constructive coping mechanisms for the future.

Psychotherapy with Children & Young People

This therapy provides your child with a safe place to explore difficult thoughts and feelings. I seek to foster a warm and trusting relationship within which children and adolescents can help to communicate through talking and or play. I also help parents develop skills that prevent problems from escalating.

Adult Integrative Therapy

Whether you come here as a result of a crisis or a sense of curiosity about yourself, this is an opportunity to explore long held beliefs and attitudes that may not fit you anymore. I can support you to explore your inner self, understand things in a new way, and make more satisfying choices about your life.

Other Support Options

I offer support and consultancy to parents and carers on a range of child and adolescent related issues.

I provide support for

  • Simple and complex trauma
  • Emotional development
  • Traffic accidents
