About me

Life is full of ups and downs, and during difficult times, it may feel. However, this does not need to be the case, as one can get support and understanding through counselling.

People may seek counselling for different reasons. For example, you may approach counselling if you are finding it hard to cope with the pressures of work or family life. You could also approach counselling if you have lost a loved one or are having relationship difficulties.

Counselling provides a safe, confidential space in which your thoughts and feelings can be voiced, heard and explored with another without the fear of being judged or being offered advice. It allows you the space to make sense of your situation. Talking about your thoughts, feelings, and worries can help clarify the issue(s) troubling you. This is all part of the process of counselling, which can help you feel less burdened and isolated and more supported and accepted.

About me.

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor who practices an Integrative Approach. I believe in utilising the valuable contributions made by various schools of counselling rather than being limited by one approach. This means I can offer a flexible and caring approach to each individual and their unique needs.

I specialise in working with individuals or couples who may come for support for various reasons, including relationship issues, stress, anxiety, and dealing with low esteem and low self-worth, which impact their self-confidence.   I also have extensive experience working with survivors of Domestic abuse.

I believe in working with clients to help empower themselves and feel more confident.

I have extensive experience working with diverse communities and an understanding of other cultures. This is particularly important when working therapeutically, as one needs to be sensitive to others' beliefs, ethnicity, and culture.

I have more recently trained as a Life and Wellness coach. If you feel "stuck" in your present life, be it in a job, relationship or particular situation, you may benefit from talking through goals to help you achieve a more satisfactory outcome.  A life coach is someone who looks to empower others by assisting them to make, meet and exceed goals in both their personal and professional lives, and I hope I will be the one to help you achieve your own personal goals.

As a trained wellness coach, I can support you through a transitional period when you want to achieve a healthier and more successful lifestyle. I am trained in helping clients overcome difficulties with managing chronic health conditions, weight management, and smoking cessation.

Life and wellness coaching has grown to be a hugely successful form of talking therapy, to the extent that it has helped turn people's lives around.

I offer open-ended counselling as well as short-term and focused therapy. I am fluent in Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi in addition to English and can offer sessions to those who feel more comfortable communicating in their mother tongue.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
