About me

Going to see a counsellor can be a big decision and a difficult thing to do. Many people are not sure what to expect and feel embarrassed to ask for help. I believe that it requires great strength to seek help to deal with our problems and to have the courage to explore those issues and resolve them. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space in which to do this work together.

I have studied both Person Centred and Integrative approaches in my work towards Diploma and since then have taken part in further training in both Attachment and EFT (Emotionally Focussed Therapy) approaches.

I believe in building a strong therapeutic alliance within which you are able able to feel a sense of safety in which to explore issues.  My intention is to remain open and empathic, understanding what you bring from your own frame of reference.  This environment is created to allow you to access and express your deeper feelings without fear of judgement.

This is approach is coupled with a relational aspect in which I’m interested in exploring your attachment patterns in order to develop an understanding of the developmental issues that have created your model of relationships and to work to understand how this affects the present. In this way we explore together to look at what may lie underneath the presenting problems and to make more sense your inner world and move forward.

I offer both open ended and short term work.

Training, qualifications & experience

I did my introduction to Counselling at Lewisham College which was a Person-Centred Approach.
I then joined the Minster Centre to take the next level on an Integrative Counselling Counselling course.
For my Professional Diploma in Therapeutic counselling I attended the Mary Ward Centre in London, which also follows an Integrative approach.

Since qualifying, I have done an Attachment training short course at The Bowlby Centre and have continued learning about aspects of the Attachment approach over the last five years.

I worked for Camden NHS in Sexual Health for six years, helping young people with sexual health issues.

I spent over four years working at the City and East London Bereavement Service working with diverse aspects of bereavement.

For four years I worked at ELOP (East London Out Project), where LGBTQ+ clients came with difficulties around relationships, self-confidence, sexuality and gender.

For the last three years I have worked in private practice where I have continued to work with LGBTQ+ and bereaved clients as well as with people who have issues around anxiety and depression or with other persistently difficult thoughts and feelings.
