About me

Hello my name is Yasmin I’m a warm friendly empathic cognitive behavioural therapist, with a Bsc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My work is firmly underpinned by good counselling practice and the BACP ethical framework, of which I am a registered member.

Areas of major interest are neuroscience, diluted versions of CBT such as Mindfulness, Dialectic Behavioural Therapy, Commitment therapy, which support treatment plans that enhance client’s realistic capabilities, and reduce possible anxieties, while supporting self esteem and wellbeing.

Sometimes it can be difficult to find time to understand our problems and to talk to those close to us about our concerns.

It is my aim to empower my clients through encouragement, alternative thinking, visualisation, goal planning and interpersonal skills while offering an empathic, non-judgemental safe space Counselling can provide you to explore your world, while supplying unconditional positive regard, dignity and respect.

I have facilitated many issues and areas through my professional practice as a private practitioner, I have worked with a mixture of client groups, and for Open Door an intervention service specialising with young people and children, from 5-25 yrs old. I have had further training in child bereavement, child protection and mentoring for young people, and child sexual abuse.

What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

CBT can be viewed as a method which can help to teach the relationship between thoughts, feelings & behaviour.

                  Thoughts

    Behaviour             Feelings

A growing awareness and recognition can help us to understand how negative thoughts can affect feelings, mood & behaviour. This greater insight can help to empower and enable us, to learn how to question and exchange unwanted thoughts with more realistic replacements.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my training in 2006, with a certificate in counselling and a Bsc, (Hons) Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I’m also a qualified Montessori teacher with many years of experience working with young children, which has provided a core understanding of the child’s world and perspective to their world.

I have attended many training courses, including; NLP, play therapy and provide my clients the option to express their feelings creatively through art.
