Wilma McIntyre BA(hons) Psy. TQFE. Dip. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBABCP)
Ahrea Therapy & Counselling Centre
49 Queen Street
I am a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with nineteen years’ experience in the field of psychology. I provide a confidential supportive environment where you will be free to discuss your situation without pressure or judgement allowing us to work together to help you find ways to cope with and overcome the difficulties interfering with your life. It can be difficult to understand why we are feeling stressed or not coping with life in general. CBT can help to break negative thinking patterns and look for practical solutions that will allow you to take control of your own life allowing you to move forward.
Research has found Cognitive behavioural therapy to be an effective treatment for a wide variety of problems. It is problem-solving oriented, with clients learning specific skills that can be used at any time in the future should they be required. These skills will arm you with techniques that can be used to identify and alter distorted thinking patterns, modifying beliefs, relating to others in different ways, and changing behaviours.
I have experience in working with a wide variety of difficulties including Self-harm, PTSD, anxiety, obsessive compulsive behaviours, coping with physical health problems, domestic violence, anger management to name but a few.
I am fully insured and a member of the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
