About me

Billy Shaw - Psychotherapist

I am a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist/Psychotherapist in private practice. I am also a fully qualified supervisor and supervise Counsellors and Psychotherapists throughout the UK.

Serving Clients: Nationally

I work professionally with a wide variety of individuals experiencing a range of physical and acute mental health conditions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that emphasises the important role of thoughts and perception in shaping feelings and behaviours. CBT uses a problem-solving approach that teaches people skills to change their thinking and manage their reactions to stressful people and situations.

CBT is considered a cost-effective treatment for many disorders and psychological problems due to it's short-term and time-limited approach that focuses on quantifiable results. CBT is highly instructive and makes use of assignments, homework and trying out new ways of behaving and reacting to identify and change "distorted" or "unrealistic” ways of thinking, and therefore to influence emotion and behaviour.

I Work With:

Children and adults on a one to one, couple or group situation, addressing client problems and concerns.

These Problems and Concerns Include:

Addictions, Alcohol and Drug Misuse, Anger, Anxiety, Bereavement, Bipolar Disorder/Manic Depression, Disaster and Trauma, Depression, Gender issues, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder including Pure O, Panic Disorder, Physical Health issues, Occupational issues, Relationship issues, Sexual Abuse, Sexuality issues, Sleep Disorders, Stress.

  • I specialise in Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, and Relationship issues.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Electronic doors lead into a lift in our Douglas Street Clinic. In Grangemouth everything is on the lower floor, our doors are wide enough to access and exit with wheelchair. Our second office in Glasgow (Connal Building) has some stairs before the lift.
