About me

I currently work online, in-person and outdoors.

You might be struggling or feeling stuck in your life.  Maybe you feel like something is missing, maybe you feel sad or angry or there is past trauma, or maybe you’re in the middle of difficult life changes.

Self understanding leads to self acceptance and a feeling that you're ok - and this gives you choices about how to change the parts of yourself you want to change.

Psychotherapy is about providing a space for you to work through your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour so you can understand things that are causing difficulty.  Having someone trained to just listen, witness, and shine a light can be a huge relief.

Where appropriate, I offer ‘walking and talking’ therapy, sometimes referred to as ecotherapy.  This approach helps us think about our relationship to our environment and how this impacts our wellbeing.

I'm primarily trained as a psychodynamic therapist but I integrate other interventions as appropriate, eg. CBT and DBT, and mindfulness.

Work with me:
I’m an experienced, fully qualified, registered and accredited BACP psychodynamic psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. My therapeutic work is also Jungian informed and both these approaches help you think at depth about different aspects of your life. I can bring in CBT, DBT and solution focussed modalities into short to medium counselling. I’m very experienced with young adults (18+), Highly Sensitive People and neurodiverse people. A free short telephone or online call is available so you can decide if this is for you.

Online therapy gives an option for those who are mobility limited, living with chronic illness, or if you simply prefer your own space.

Depending on your needs I can provide the following:-

  • Short to medium term counselling.
  • Longer term psychotherapy.
  • Outdoor / ecotherapy where appropriate.
  • I also offer EAP work on request.

I offer Clinical Supervision - please contact me for any availability.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm fully qualified and registered with an MA in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy (University of Leicester).

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist informed by Psychodymamic Analytical theory, and I'm also Jungian informed.

I trained in SDS Accreditation in Clinical Supervision, Level 2 (Assessed Academic Competence).  I have completed advanced supervision training with the British Psychoanalytic Foundation.

I undertake continuing professional development to keep up to date with current research and developments in clinical practice, usually up to 100 hours per year.

I'm experienced in working in the NHS, the voluntary sector, in Higher Education and in Private Practice.

I'm a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work within their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

I have extensive experience working online as well as in-person.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
