About me

Wayne Davis (ASpace2Think)

My name is Wayne Davis and I am an attachment-based psychoanalytical psychotherapist.

When working I look to explore the impact on how safe a person feels on their capacity to relate; not only to others but to themselves. I aim to do this by providing a warm and open atmosphere within which a reflective mutual space can be used to allow thoughts and feelings to emerge; regardless of how difficult they are. Through that process the hope is that healing can allow for change.

I am currently based in Wallington, Surrey SM6 or Victoria SW1

I am also flexible in terms of the length of therapy I offer from being open-ended to a more time limited approach.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at The Bowlby Centre which provides a 4 year course on Attachment-Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. It is affiliated to the CPJA) Council of Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis College of the (UKCP) United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy.

I attained a UKCP accreditation to practice psychotherapy and am a registered member of that body. During that time I have gained over 5 years experience, working with a variety of mental health issues not only within private practice but the NHS as well. These include depression, emotional regulation, substance misuse and trauma.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

I believe in and place a strong emphasis on the relational aspect of psychotherapy. Within that process there should be mutual recognition and respect of one another. I also feel the impact of one’s difference on personal development and experience can have a profound impact. Therefore it is important for this to be acknowledged inside and outside the consulting room.

To conclude safety is of the utmost importance and as such the intensity and pace of therapy is aimed to facilitate this. Ultimately I believe the process will look to change how a client feels about the past and present to envisage a more satisfying future.
