About me

Introduction
I think that sometimes we just need someone to listen, to truly hear what we are saying, and to be there in the moment, just for us. I am reminded of the following quote when I think of counselling;

"When someone is in your life for a reason, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. S/he has come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually." by Anonymous.

How I Work
I am an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor. Integrative means that I combine different ways of understanding and helping people. The main theories I follow are termed ‘Psychodynamic’ and ‘Person-Centred’.

I am fully insured, registered with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), and follow the BACP Ethical Framework. I am able to work with adults, adolescents, and children on a 1-1 basis. I am able to offer counselling at home in a suitable and confidential environment, and I undertake home visits.

Ultimately, I believe that everyone is different and therefore I would like to discover the unique person that you are. In this way we can work together to find your way forward. My aim is to provide a safe, non-judgemental, confidential, and caring space where you can explore any difficulties you are experiencing or have experienced in the past. I believe through counselling you can develop a sense of acceptance of who you are and come to terms with life events.

What Happens Next?
Once you contact me and I have answered any outstanding questions we would arrange a free consultation session lasting approximately 30 minutes. This would be to complete an assessment so I can understand what support you may require and to offer you the opportunity to decide if you would like to work together.

We would then arrange the regularity of sessions (e.g. weekly), fees, and discuss initial amount of sessions. For example, this may be a total of 12 initially, with a review half way through to see how these are working for you. However, we can review any concerns throughout our work together.

I offer sessions weekdays between the times of 9:00am – 5:00pm however do offer evening slots if daytimes are difficult.

I appreciate how difficult it can be when you have made the decision to seek support, to meet with someone face to face that you don't know. It may be easier to have a chat on the phone, text or email to help you make this life making decision to seek the help you need.
Do feel free to use this service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
