One reason I trained in therapy is because it worked for me!
During my twenties, I suffered from depression, anger issues, relationship difficulties and unresolved grief. In essence, I was emotionally stuck, miserable and lacked direction and purpose in life. With the help of therapy, I was able to move through my emotional stuckness into a healthier way of living which made me feel happier. I can now fully feel and express my feelings and also enjoy nourishing and healthier relationships. The repetitive negative moods, feelings and behaviours are no longer there. I feel happier, motivated and am purpose driven in my work and life.
I originally trained in body-oriented approaches to therapy, which are methods that work directly with the body to release and integrate difficult feelings. These approaches have given me the capacity to successfully help clients move through any stuck emotional experience that may arise in talking therapy.
Using an integral model I draw from a variety of counselling and psychotherapeutic methods which include psychodynamic, person-centred, humanistic, transpersonal, Focusing-oriented and Somatic Experiencing. This integrative approach allows me to tailor therapeutic needs to suit each individual, and I work actively to orient our work towards resolving present pain in order to achieve happiness and emotional freedom.
I am also trained in trauma work which resolves PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) symptoms.
