About me

I am a Person Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist and I believe that any individual encountering difficulties may benefit from counselling.

Counselling can offer a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings that are causing you worry or distress. The counselling relationship can help you understand what is wrong and support you to find new ways of coping with your thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

I offer a therapeutic relationship which is based on trust, empathy and acceptance. I will listen and support you to find your way forward. I believe that you can benefit from counselling at any age and I am able to reflect and integrate different ways of working dependent on your needs.

All Counselling Sessions during the Coronavirus Pandemic will now take place using online platforms (Zoom, Facetime, WhatsApp or Messenger Video) or by telephone. This is to keep everyone safe as well as following the advice of the Government, NHS Scotland and my governing body BACP.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Please do not hesitate to get in touch via text, email or telephone.

I can offer a free initial telephone consultation. This will allow you to get a sense of how I work and ask any questions. If you decide you are happy and would like to go forward then we can arrange an initial appointment.

During the initial appointment we can look at what you would like to get from counselling, and if you are happy to continue we can arrange our next appointment. Many people choose to have weekly or fortnightly sessions to suit their own circumstances but we can discuss this during our first appointment. Each appointment will last for 50 minutes.
