About me
Hi, my name is Vicky and I offer counselling and psychotherapy for individuals in North Essex and Suffolk.
You may be suffering from depression or anxiety, perhaps you’re feeling stressed or suffering from panic attacks? My training and skills might be able to help you overcome your troubles.
The role of your counsellor is to help you gain insight into your thought patterns. We do this by looking at the events of your life and how they may be causing you to feel the way you do now. When you work with a counsellor it can be easier to reveal any patterns from your past that you may not consciously notice and we can then work together to find acceptance, empathy and understanding.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been a trained counsellor for over 13 years and am a Member of The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I have achieved Accredited Status which reflects my experience and commitment to maintaining high levels of care. Throughout my time as a counsellor I have worked with people who are suffering from relationship breakdowns, trauma, bereavement and those facing childhood abuse and trauma.
I believe in working with the person as a whole being and not as a list of labels or issues.
There are many different types of counselling. I am primarily a Psychodynamic Counsellor, which means I aim to help you understand your deep-rooted feelings and how these may be impacting upon your current state of mind.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I do not feel it is helpful to regard any of these issues in isolation. I would like to address the problem in context of the whole person.

Location
My office is in central Sudbury. It is adjacent to a free public car park.
I charge for non attendance unless I have received 48 hours notice. However I will do my best to reschedule a session within the same week as the missed session at no extra cost.
