About me

When life is hard it can help to talk in confidence to someone supportive and non-judgemental, someone who is independent and outside the situation, and who can offer a different perspective. Counselling can help to make a way forward seem easier, a way that you may not have thought about before.

I know it can be very hard deciding to see a counsellor, but exploring together what is troubling you, in a warm and secure space, can make all the difference.  I can also offer telephone and online counselling.  I am a Senior Accredited Member of the BACP.  I use different approaches to suit each person's needs.  I have particular experience working with anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties.

COUPLE COUNSELLING

Life changes can bring stresses to any relationship, often resulting communication difficulties.  It can be helpful to involve me, a third party, to help you gain insight into your relationship, resolve conflict, and improve relationship satisfaction.  I aim to do this alongside you, in a caring, supportive and non-judgmental way.  Partners don't always have the same goals, and occasionally this involves separation.  I am a member of Thameside Lawyers and Mediators helping to reduce conflict during separation and divorce.

FAMILY THERAPY

The aim of family therapy is to find ways for family members to help each other by members communicating better with each other.  We talk together about important family beliefs and who else is involved with the family.  The whole family, including children, are usually seen together, in a confidential and non-judgemental way, and I encourage everyone who comes to have their say and to share their feelings, if they wish.  I am an honorary member of the CNWL NHS family therapy unit.

Usually, our initial contract will run for six weeks, and then we will review the counselling process together, and decide about further sessions, aiming to meet on a weekly basis at a regular time.

I welcome adults, couples and families to a comfortable private room in West Molesey.  I also offer telephone and online counselling.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
