Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Client  and organisation testimonials

Throughout my counselling training and career, I have supported diverse individuals and clients to change and move forward. Clients have made positive evaluations  and recommendations;

"Having suffered from BBD for most of my life, I felt ready for change. I came to Vanessa not expecting much...as in ways I gave up on any possible progression.  Vanessa as given me the tools to deal with it. I have shifted and dealt with some exposure that I never dreamed I would ( or could) do. I also felt I could be open with Vanessa which helped in my forward positive progress".

"From the beginning of my counselling journey you have been profoundly patient and supportive. I found your professional independence and empathy to be a pivotal part of my recovery. You have listened and provided thoughtful counselling support when I needed it most. Thank you so much for all your help".

"I found 6 sessions for coping with stress have been useful. They were structured and I felt I could go at my own pace.  We measured anxiety and low mood scores frequently to get a handle on progress and the direction I was heading. Coping strategies have left me more able to face daily challenges with COVID and workplace.  Vanessa was patient and ready to listen and offer reassurance and provide useful guidance and resources that have left me stronger , and happier. I would recommend talking to Vanessa if you are feeling stressed and unhappy, you will feel the benefits afterwards".

"Vanessa has been very supportive as a therapist, being able to discuss various types of personal issues and navigate the complexities while helping to uplift my mood and self esteem. Most of our sessions were on the phone making it trickier but Vanessa helped to make these go smoother and put me at ease, Thanks"!
