Profile

I  am a  person-Centred counsellor offering confidentiality at all times. My  rooms are close to the centre of Hull, these rooms are quite and relaxing.

Person-centred counselling, allows you (the client)to reflect at (your pace) issues which for whatever reson may be causing difficulty. These difficulties might be life-style events which may in my opinion influence the way we sometimes think and feel about ourselves and others.  This  may also have an inpact   on the way we view our relationships with family and friends. I do incorporate other techniques depending the client's individual needs. By doing this, I feel this integration of approaches in many cases helps the client work through their issues, thoughts and feelings.

I offer long and short term face-to-face counselling. This is in accordance to the BACP code of ethics. There is no given time with  counselling, some client's  may need just one session,  others may need  several session over a peroid of time. What matters to me as a counsellor is that the client has the respect, honesty, freedom of choice they (the client) deserve within the counselling session.

Having had counselling myself, I believe when the client experiences respect coming from the counsellor, (this feeling of being valued, by their counsellor) enables the client to (no matter how painful and difficult) start to move forward. I also believe that humour as well as tiers are important in the therapy session.

I am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists. (BACP)  I have   been a member of the BACP for the past 3 years.

I work  at the moment for an organisation which works with survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse.(I have a lot of experience in this field.) This office is very busy, offering clients, space, confidentiality and security at all times. The organisation also works with male survivors of rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence.

I feel that many of lifes challenges may leave some of us at times feeling confused, not really knowing which way to turn. These challenges may be, are you really satisfied with your job prospects? would you like to re-train but lack the confidence? or have you had a traumatic abusive  childhood.  keeping your childhood a secret, believing there to be on-one you can talk to in confidence. This is where counselling will offer you the opportunity to explore at your own pace, in an environment which is relaxed, all those hiden feelings. Counselling also helps you to focus on the strengths which are pressent within us all. Counselling helps to encourage growth, and confidence leading  to have a better understanding about oursleves.

I believe in plain-talking however, I talk in a very simplistic manour. if you would like to know more about me or about counselling please give me a call; hopefully together we may find a way which will allow you to explore the things which you feel are arrears of concerns in your life.
