I am a person-Centered counselor offering confidentiality at all times. My rooms are very welcoming and relaxing and are close to the center of Hull.
Person-centered counselling, allows you (the client)to reflect at (your pace) issues which for whatever reason may be causing difficulty. These difficulties might be life-style events which may in my opinion influence the way we sometimes think and feel about ourselves and others. This may also have an impact on the way we view our relationships with family and friends. I do incorporate other techniques depending the client's individual needs. By doing this, I feel this integration of approaches in many cases helps the client work through their issues, thoughts and feelings.
I offer long and short term face-to-face counselling. This is in accordance to the British Association for counselors and psychotherapists (BACP) code of ethics. There is no given time with counselling, some client's may need just one session, others may need several session over a period of time. What matters to me as a counselor is that the client has the respect, honesty, freedom of choice they (the client) deserve within the counselling session.
Having had counselling myself, I believe when the client experiences respect coming from the counselor (the feeling of being valued, by their counselor this enables the client (no matter how painful and difficult) to start moving forward. I believe also that humor as well as tiers are important in the therapy session.
I have a member of the British Association for Counselors and Psychotherapists. (BACP) for the past 3 years.
I work at the moment for an organisation which works with survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse.(I have a lot of experience in this field.) The office is very busy, offering clients, space, confidentiality and security at all times. The organisation also works with male survivors of rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence.
From listening to my clients, it appears life at times for some of us may be very challenging, leaving some of us feeling confused, and not really knowing which way to turn. These challenges might be related to job prospects, the fear of possible having to re-train in order to keep working, breakdown of a relationship, the loss of a loved one, or simply as a child you experienced a terrible trauma. This is where counselling will offer you the opportunity to explore at your own pace, all those hidden feelings. Counselling also helps you to focus on the strengths which are present within us all. Counselling will encourage growth and confidence, leading to a better understanding about ourselves.
I believe in plain-talking however, I talk in a very simplistic manor if you would like to know more about me or about counselling please give me a call; hopefully together we may find a way which will allow you to explore the things which you feel are arrears of concerns in your life.
