Specialism in CBT
I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is a direct and targeted therapy. CBT is recognised by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) as one of the most effective therapies and is recommended by GPs.It has been shown to be effective in treating many conditions including depression and suicidal thoughts, panic disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), worry, phobias, health anxiety, self - harm, anger management, sleep problems, chronic fatigue, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and low self - esteem.
Length of working
Many people experience significant improvements in their problems after only a few sessions of CBT. Treatment would usually be between 6 and 20 sessions, depending on what you want help with. It is usual to have a number of sessions weekly and then to space them out, to allow longer to try out new ways of thinking and behaving between sessions.
Evening and Weekend appointments
I offer daytime, evening and weekend appointments in comfortable and modern offices with plenty of free off street car parking.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am an accredited member of BACP, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and an accredited member of BABCP, the British Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapists.
I work with clients age 14 upwards.

I work collaboratively with you to achieve your objectives. You are the expert on your own life whilst I have the training and knowledge to offer you tools and techniques to help you manage problems. I take a practical approach with a balance between talking to understand how problems develop and you trying out new ways of thinking and behaving between sessions. We will review regularly to make sure that we are along the right lines towards achieving your objectives.
Do get in touch and I can talk through with you how I would work with the problem/s you want help with. If I am unable to pick up the call, or you would prefer that I call you, please leave a message and I will get back to you shortly. I look forward to speaking to you.
