About me

Hello, my name is Uschi Gramann. I am a trained counsellor and psychotherapist and art therapist and I have worked in private practice for many years. My areas of practice have been community mental health and community  and residential addiction services. I have experience of working within the voluntary sector, social services and  the NHS.

You may feel depressed or anxious or may experience difficulties in your relationships or have  unresolved family issues or difficulties at work. You may have recently experienced a separation or divorce or have had other losses in your life. These feelings may be overwhelming and too much to deal with. In these situations seeing an experienced psychotherapist/art therapist can be very beneficial.

I provide a safe, non judgemental space where you can talk about these difficult feelings and thoughts or express them in a non verbal way by using the art materials. This is the first step to getting better, as a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship helps to make sense of how you are and also helps to view life differently , where after a while of seeing each other, changes may be more possible.

I have a training in integrative psychotherapy and counselling and psychodynamically orientated art therapy. I am able to work on different levels depending on what you may need. I also work with the relationship that develops throughout us seeing each other and keep in mind the past, that has had a significant impact on the present. If you decide to start Art therapy , then the artwork  and the process of doing art will also have their own relevance in understanding yourself and others better.

Artwork can often provide a way of accessing  the unconscious, where other, deeper layers of the person can be expressed. A new sense of creativity  and self worth will also develop and add to  the advantages of working with art materials. There will be a concrete record of all the artwork you have been doing throughout your therapy.

Through my work in community addiction services I am familiar with CBT and Mindfulness and also use some CBT methods if that seems appropriate. Trauma is also an area that I am very interested in, where non verbal ways of working ie. Art therapy can be very helpful.

I offer time limited and  long term work for counselling, psychotherapy and also art therapy. You may work on a specific problem or may be unclear what is wrong. In a first meeting we would be able to think of whether verbal or non verbal ways of working would be beneficial and whether short or long term work would be needed.

I welcome people form all diverse backgrounds and German speakers , as I am able to provide Psychotherapy in German language.

Areas I have worked with have been:

  • abuse
  • relationship problems
  • work difficulties/stress
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • bereavement
