Tracy Carter - BA (Hons)/Integrative Registered Member - BACP
I work with, Young teens, Adults, Couples, Older Adults, who have experienced difficulties with Life, Relationships, Bereavement, Anxiety, Depression, Stress and more.
By being here I sense you have taken the first step in finding a way of living for you.
It could be you need to deal with a life event, relationship issue, a mental health concern, a work issue or that life just isn't working or stuck...
Whatever your reason for counselling I am here to listen.
I am a qualified Person Centred and Integrative therapist. I work in an eclectic way, which means I take elements from different models, it is the combination of directive and non-directive counselling, this means that I will work with you to ensure we find the most effective way forward for you.
I am a Registered member of the BACP and adhere to guidelines of the Ethical Framework, I am fully insured and attend regular Supervision and CPD.
SINCERE, NOT EVASIVE
Some counselling websites/profiles could be seen to imply counselling as being a peaceful walk in the park. I’d ask you: how does your guilt with bereavement or your struggles with your depression feel? Probably not peaceful.
Seeing a Counsellor for the first time can be scary, but that first step is so important for you, I am assuming what you are dealing with is or has been a lot worse.
I take an open, compassionate and respectful approach to your counselling. We can talk about all of the difficulties that you cannot talk about elsewhere. And we’ll go at your pace.
My approach is to aid clients in coming to terms with anxieties in life in a way that makes sense to them, to assist them how their emotions affects their day to day life and how they can manage to work through matters when the uncomfortable matters crop up.
Counselling is your decision and your's alone, friends /family may be concerned about your welfare and persuade you, but they cannot force you into something you do not want.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
I can arrange to have an informal chat with you over the phone if you feel unsure or have any questions - without any obligation on your part at all. If you then decide you would like to meet with me, an appointment can be arranged usually within the same week. A GP referral is not required; I am not part of the NHS and will not submit reports about you to anyone.
HOW LONG DOES EACH APPOINTMENT LAST?
All appointments are for a full hour.
HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS WILL I NEED?
Although this varies, I recommend between 4 - 6 appointments followed by a review of how you feel things are going. Some clients decide to continue for longer following the review and according to individual circumstances.... but there is never an obligation to continue at any time.
WHAT IF I AM UNSURE?
If you are unsure about committing to regular appointments but still need to talk, it may be helpful to have a first appointment and then contact me at a later date, if/when you feel ready to meet again.

This poem by Theodore Roszak (1981) sums up what I aim to offer as a counsellor:
You and I….
we meet as strangers, each carrying a mystery within us.
I cannot say who you are; I may never know you completely.
But I trust you are a person in your own right, possessed of a
beauty and value that are the Earth's richest treasures.
So I make this promise to you:
I will impose no identities upon you, but will invite you to become
yourself without shame or fear.
I will hold open a space for you in the world and defend your
right to fill it with an authentic vocation.
For as long as your search takes, you have my loyalty.
