Tracy Carter - BA (Hons)/Integrative - Reg. Member - MBACP
Hello, I'm Tracy,
I am a qualified Person Centred and Integrative therapist. I work in an Eclectic way, which means I take elements from different models, it is the combination of directive and non-directive counselling, this means that I will work with you to ensure we find the most effective way forward for you.
I have worked with, Teenagers, Adults, Older Adults, who have experienced difficulties with Relationships, Bereavement, Anxiety, Depression, Motivation Sessions and more.
I had worked in the Care Profession for over 20 years, with Young People to the Elderly. Working with a varied range of issues, Stress/Anxiety, Bereavement, Alcohol/Drug addiction, Motivational Sessions and more, also working in and running Support Groups.
By being here I sense you have taken the first step in finding a way of living for you.
It could be you need to deal with a life event, relationship issue, a mental health concern, a work issue or that life just isn't working and you do not know why and yet want to feel happier. Whatever your reason for counselling I am here to listen.
I presently work in private practice, various Health EAP's and local organisations in the area as a Sessional Therapist.
I offer support to families who have experienced Bereavement/Child Loss, and work with Couples/Relationship dilemma's.
I offer Motivational Support/Personal Development to Students.
I am a Registered member of the BACP and adhere to guidelines of the Ethical Framework, I am fully insured and attend regular Supervision and CPD.
OUR 1ST SESSION - ASSESSMENT APPOINTMENT
Our first session is an Assessment Appointment, to see whether Counselling is for you, and what you want from these sessions, you may decide to only want Support, Mentoring, Counselling or Coaching, also to see if I am the right Therapist for you.
Counselling is your decision and your's alone, friends /family may be concerned about your welfare and persuade you, but they cannot force you into something you do not want.
I offer my clients space to explore their needs and to work through their difficulties, you may only need a few sessions or longer term support.
Sessions are confidential and separate from everyday life, and this can enable you to talk openly without feeling you are being a burden, going to be gossiped about or judged.
You may only need a few sessions (4-6) then we can review how you feel, whether you would like more, but that's for you to decide, you are encouraged to work through your own issues.
I feel the core of any successful Counselling/Coaching is the rapport you build with your chosen Therapist,
It is important you find someone you feel safe, trust, and who you can be honest and open with.
I see my role as listening, reflecting, supporting, tentatively challenging and offering input both as a Therapist and as a fellow human with knowledge and my own life-experience.

This poem by Theodore Roszak (1981) sums up what I aim to offer as a counsellor:
You and I….
we meet as strangers, each carrying a mystery within us.
I cannot say who you are; I may never know you completely.
But I trust you are a person in your own right, possessed of a
beauty and value that are the Earth's richest treasures.
So I make this promise to you:
I will impose no identities upon you, but will invite you to become
yourself without shame or fear.
I will hold open a space for you in the world and defend your
right to fill it with an authentic vocation.
For as long as your search takes, you have my loyalty.
