About me

Why people seek counselling and how it can help -

We as humans strive to understand the world we live in and the events that happen and when this cannot be achieved it can feel uncomfortable to deal with. This is also the case when we do not understand ourselves, what we are experiencing or feeling which can feel a lonely, confusing and uncomfortable place.

How I work -

I create a safe, non-judgemental, supportive, confidential and nurturing space cushioning the process of exploration to gain understanding of what you are experiencing. This brings awareness of self and autonomy of choice, nurturing change and leading to movement within your life.

I work from a Humanistic Person Centred and Adlerian stance. However, I follow an integrative approach which means I offer other theories and techniques which is felt would work with your individual needs, (these are stated below in Any further information). This allows the work to be as unique as you are, working together we discover what feels right for you providing the best support to face what it is you are experiencing.

I believe in an holistic approach to thereapy strongly believing what we carry in our minds is felt within our bodies. Counselling breaks this down but to aid the body and mind whilst doing so I offer relaxation using 'Autogenics'.  This is a deep relaxation technique which restores balance to the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) branches of the brain which has great benefits for mind and body.

To utilise my depth of qualification and knowledge of  business in the private and public sectors I offer Employment Assisted Programs (EAP). Having worked in administration roles through to management I have an understanding to what these roles can bring to individuals working alone or in team settings .

I offer a free 15 to 30 minute inital discussion to explore what it is you are experiencing and the best way we can work together for your needs, there is no pressure you are then free to choose if you wish to work with me.

I offer short and long term work depending on what it is you wish to explore. This is your work and you set the pace and duration of the work all I ask is that I am given at least one sessions notice if you wish to stop.

About me -

I have worked within Social Housing for 18 years dealing with a huge range of social issues and complex needs. Following this I worked in an educational environment for children and young adults with a wide spectrum of needs from reduced learning abilities to profound and complex medical and psychological conditions.

I counsel with Place2Be in a school setting providing counselling for primary aged children.

I counsel at St Michaels Hospice providing counselling for patients, staff and extended family members of those facing life limiting illnesses and life altering conditions.
