About me

Hi

My work includes Couples Counselling and Individual Counselling.

Couples Counselling/ Relationship Therapy.

Working together in the sessions with your partner helps you to be heard and to be understood. Equally it can give you a better understanding of your partner. Couples Counselling identifies patterns of behavior and show us what is helpful for our relationship and what is not. It helps to consider and implement change. We look at communication styles and attachments types. Therapy helps us to identify our needs and that of our partners, we look at what is realistic and achievable and what needs more consideration.
Couples Counseling helps to reduce anxiety and worry. It can work towards harmony and a feeling of confidence.

Therapy can help your partner gain a better understanding of what life is like for you, it also can give you an insight into your own internal system.

There are lots of reasons why people come to counselling, talking through any anxiety, issues and your problems in a safe and non judgmental environment can help you both to consider and make change.

My role is to explore the issues that you are experiencing and to understand and hear what you are thinking and feeling so that we can help you find and make positive change/s Often clients have a feeling of being stuck and need help and support with moving forward.

The feeling of being stuck can be found after an affair or financial differences. Loss and life stages can often cause gaps in our relationship which can bring different levels of anxiety and uncertainty.

There are many different reasons and experiences that bring difference and what feels like an impasse into our relationship, it may be that you cannot pinpoint the issue however, Couples Counselling can help identify and work through these situations.

I can work with couples who are looking to seperate and how to do this amicably for you and your family.

Individual Counselling

Is an opportunity for you to come and talk to me about your issues, anxieties, worries or problems that you have in any area of your life, in a safe and non judgmental environment.

Individual clients can present with a very varied and wide range of issues. These can include problems such as bereavement, anxiety, worry, self worth, confidence, feeling alone, work related issues, being a Carer and many more. These issues can feel overwhelming and block us from seeing a clear direction, future or outcome. Working through your experiences and worries can bring positive change, confidence, a clearer direction and focus on your future. This in turn brings positivity and calmness.

Please call or email me to book an appointment. I offer face to face, online or telephone sessions.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Each client has a different experience to bring therefore, I offer a way of working that is non prescriptive to suit you and I include different types of counselling approaches. The counselling sessions are not restricted to a fixed number so you can have as few or many sessions as you like.

Life can be very busy and time may be an issue for you so I like to be as flexible as I can and not hold you to a weekly time slot. If you prefer to book week by week to include different days and times that is an option I offer, alternatively if you prefer a definite weekly booking we can choose a mutually convenient time for your booking.

It is most important that we develop a good therapeutic relationship and you feel comfortable to work with me, this will encourage the process to be successful.
